About LinkPreview.io
A fast, no-nonsense tool for checking how a URL will look when shared on social media — before you hit publish.
Why this tool exists
When you share a link on Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, or Discord, the platform's crawler reads your page's og: and twitter: meta tags and renders a preview card. When those tags are missing, mismatched, or pointing at the wrong image size, the result is a broken-looking link that nobody clicks. Most teams only find out about the problem after the post goes out.
The official debuggers from the platforms — Facebook Sharing Debugger, Twitter Card Validator, LinkedIn Post Inspector — each only test their own platform, often require a login, and don't tell you whether your image is the right aspect ratio or whether your title will be truncated. LinkPreview.io was built to solve that: paste one URL and see, side by side, exactly how it will render on every major platform, plus a checklist of issues to fix.
Who built it
LinkPreview.io is built and maintained by Ravi, an independent developer who builds focused, single-purpose web tools for developers and content teams. The site has no investors, no growth team, and no hidden agenda — it's a tool that exists because the maintainer needed it himself and figured other people probably did too.
Other tools from the same author include JSON Difference for comparing JSON payloads, Timestamp Converter for moving between epoch and human time, and QRCodify for generating QR codes. The shared philosophy across all of them: load fast, do one thing well, no signup walls, no tracking-driven dark patterns.
What you can do here
- Validate any public URL across Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, and Google Search at the same time.
- See both card variants — large image and compact summary — so you know what your link will look like in every context.
- Get specific recommendations for image dimensions, title length, missing tags, redirect chains, and platform-specific quirks.
- Copy the corrected meta-tag HTML back into your site with one click.
- Export a single-image report showing all platform previews side by side, useful for design reviews and stakeholder sign-off.
How we keep it free
The tool is free with no signup required, and the plan is to keep it that way for the core single-URL workflow. The site is hosted on Cloudflare's edge network, which keeps infrastructure costs low and load times fast worldwide. Some pages display ads served by Google AdSense to cover ongoing hosting and development costs — see our Privacy Policy for how that works and how to opt out of personalized ads.
A future paid tier may add bulk URL checking, scheduled monitoring, team workspaces, and an API. The single-URL validator and the per-domain insights pages will remain free.
Editorial standards
The written guides on this site — including our deep-dive on Open Graph tags and the per-platform technical pages — are written by hand, based on direct testing against the actual platforms. Image-size recommendations, character-count limits, and rendering quirks are verified against current platform behaviour rather than copied from older articles. When platforms change their rendering rules, the affected pages are updated and the "Last updated" date is revised. If you spot something stale, please tell us via the contact page.
